چکیده

The scattering support is an estimate of the support of a source or scatterer, based on a limited set of far field measurements. In this paper, we suppose that the far field is measured at all wavenumbers, but only at a few, say N, angles θi ∈ . From these measurements, we produce a -convex polygon (a convex polygon with normals in the θi directions). We show that this polygon must be contained in the smallest -convex polygon which contains the source. We also show by explicit construction that, if (and only if) that polygon has almost 2N faces, there really is a source, supported in the -convex scattering support, which exactly produces these measurements.

A New Implementation of Frequency Selective Surface Cloak for Cylindrical Structures

The main purpose of this paper is to design, implement and measure a new sample of mantle cloak. A new method called mantle cloak is introduced by cloaking an object by a single, conformal meta-surface which can drastically suppress the scattering of the desired object. In this paper, a grid lattice is placed around a dielectric object as the cloaking structure. Previously, this FSS has been ut...

Jointed Rock Mass Effects on the Seismic Waves Scattering from the Canyon Sites in the Dam's Support

Seismic study of canyon sites has always been one of the important fields of seismic studies because of massive structures such as dams that are built in such sites. Jointed rock mass in rock canyon sites is one of the main site effects that can change the seismic waves. In this research, we studied the influence of this factor on the scattering of seismic waves. To fulfil this goal, we employe...

Remote Sensing of Temperature and Salinity Microstructure in Rivers and Estuaries Using Broadband Acoustic Scattering Techniques

The long-term goals of this research are to 1) measure and understand high-frequency broadband acoustic scattering in rivers and estuaries characterized by strong temperature and salinity gradients and intermittent, high dissipation rates of turbulent kinetic energy, and 2) use these measurements and understanding to develop a remote sensing tool for quantifying the structure of stratified turb...

Broadband and Broad-Angle Low-Scattering Metasurface Based on Hybrid Optimization Algorithm

A broadband and broad-angle low-scattering metasurface is designed, fabricated, and characterized. Based on the optimization algorithm and far-field scattering pattern analysis, we propose a rapid and efficient method to design metasurfaces, which avoids the large amount of time-consuming electromagnetic simulations. Full-wave simulation and measurement results show that the proposed metasurfac...

Density fluctuation measurements by far-forward collective scattering in the MST reversed-field pinch.

The multichannel polarimeter-interferometer system on the MST reversed-field pinch can be utilized to measure far-forward collective scattering from electron density fluctuations. The collective scattering system has 11 viewing chords with ∼8 cm spacing. The source is a 432 μm (694 GHz) far infrared laser and the scattered power is measured using a heterodyne detection scheme. Collective scatte...
